Freudenstadt, 10 August 2010. schlott GmbH, Freudenstadt/Germany, a wholly-owned subsidiary of schlott gruppe AG, recently submitted its application for an environmental award bestowed on companies based in the German state of Baden-Württemberg.
The award, which is the 14th of its kind, is presented to companies that are particularly committed to environmental protection and sustainability.
Having been shortlisted as a potential candidate, the company was approached by officials from Baden-Württemberg's Ministry of the Environment and Business as well as representatives of other organisations and bodies such as the Environmental Protection Agency and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for the purpose of arranging a meeting at the company in order to assess first-hand the measures implemented by schlott GmbH within the area of environmental protection.
The key criterion for selection is that the award-winning company is exemplary and pioneering in its overall approach to environmental protection.
Based in Freudenstadt, schlott GmbH has been committed to proactive environmental protection for many years. The company is acknowledged as an "eco-pioneer" of the printing industry, with its production plant having been EMAS-validated as early as 1996. Having documented its compliance with the most stringent European eco-standard, schlott GmbH further optimised its environmental protection programme over the following years. Annual monitoring audits and regular revalidations by an independent expert are a testament to the high environmental standard maintained by the company.
The official award panel was impressed with the level of environmental awareness throughout the company as well as the high standard of environmental protection.
The selection process will be completed over the course of 2010, followed by the official award ceremony.
