- Extensive track record within area of voluntary environmental management
- Additional PEFC and FSC certification
Freudenstadt, May 7, 2008. The careful and well-judged use of natural resources has always been an integral part of the business philosophy embraced by schlott gruppe.
Against this backdrop, the company has now extended its environmental management by having its printing plants certified in accordance with PEFC (Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification Scheme) and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). The PEFC and FSC standards are aimed at ensuring environmentally beneficial and economically viable management of forests around the globe.
schlott gruppe offers its customers the possibility of having their products manufactured as part of a "Chain of Custody" process, which also includes a special product label. The label provides confirmation that the paper used in the production process originated from a sustainably managed forest.
In addition, the facilities maintained by schlott gruppe have been certified as being compliant with ISO 9001:2000 quality management standards for several years. Beyond this, the German gravure printing sites in particular are also verified as being compliant with the strict European environmental management scheme EMAS II. The Nuremberg and Hamburg gravure printing sites operated by schlott gruppe recently underwent the interim EMAS II verification procedure, which is conducted on a regular basis. In the case of the facilities in Landau and Freudenstadt, the more extensive reverification procedure, which has to be performed on a three-year basis, has been scheduled for the beginning of May.
Verification of EMAS II compliance entails a comprehensive ecological audit as well as an assessment of the environmental situation and the environmental effects of the site's business operations, the aim being to reduce the quantity of substances, materials and resources used.
In complying with these certification and verification standards, schlott gruppe is able to provide customers, employees and the general public with documentary evidence of the company's commitment to quality and environmental protection, the responsible use of resources and the continuous reduction of the environmental effects associated with its business processes.
